Welcome to Francis Howell High School MSHSAA Activity & Sport Registration

Online Eligibility has closed for 2024-25 Cheer & Dance.

The Howell MSHSAA eligibility process is now beginning for the 2024-25 color guard program.

Those that are interested in trying out for cheer or dance must have their online eligibility registration completed prior to tryouts at the dates listed below:

  • Cheer tryouts begin April 10th - Cheer eligibility registration will close on April 2nd.
  • Dance tryouts begin on April 16th - Dance eligibility registration will close on April 9th.

Online registration must be complete and final clearance given in order to tryout for Cheer or Dance. New students and incoming freshmen to Howell should create a new account to register.

Please choose your students current grade for 2024-2025. We will roll grades up after July 1st.

Only currently enrolled students who are attending Howell can participate in tryouts during the school year. The only exception to this is 8th graders who are attending Howell Middle or Bryan Middle. Students who do not currently attend Howell, Howell Middle, or Bryan Middle cannot tryout during the spring semester. Those students who are enrolled for the 2024-2025 school year and not currently attending could tryout after the completion of the semester which ends on May 24th (summer) if enrolled at the school. Both cheer and dance will have additional information for those students after you register.

If you are a returning student athlete, login to your account, click on the Register dropdown, click on student’s name and complete the six steps. Those that do not have this process complete will not be able to participate in tryouts. Those that have questions or issues can now also view a tutorial video that has been developed that will walk you through the entire process. You can view the video below.

Getting Cleared For MSHSAA Sponsored Activities/Sports At Howell

A Step-by-Step Guide to Participating in a MSHSAA Sponsored Activity/Sport

  1. ALL STUDENT-ATHLETES ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE ON-LINE REGISTRATION FOR EACH ACTIVITY/SPORT PLAYED
Register your family below. Use Google Chrome as your Internet Browser when accessing this website.
Reminder: All physicals must be submitted on these forms. This is mandated by MSHSAA.
Returning users: Use the username and password you created during your first family registration. Once logged in, you may click on the "Register" dropdown and register an existing student or add a new student to your family account. Remember to add each sport for each season they will be playing sports. To select more than one sport in that season, hold CTRL and select the sports. Each student should register for a sport that they might be trying out for/playing in that season.
The form will auto-populate the answers based on your previously submitted registration. Please review and update the answers such as insurance, medication, diagnoses, emergency contacts, phone numbers, etc. You may log in at any time to your family account if you need a copy of your student's physical packet.

  2. GET A PHYSICAL EXAM
This is the link to the MSHSAA Physical Packet you need to take with you to the doctor CLICK HERE FOR PHYSICAL LINK.
If a student intends to play a MSHSAA sponsored activity/sport for Howell, they must have a valid physical on file in the Activities Office prior to participation. Your MSHSAA Physical Packet may be uploaded to your family athletic registration account. If you do not have a scanner available to upload a PDF of these forms, please bring the full packet to the Activities Office, in person, so that we can upload them to your student's registration account. Please keep a copy of the full packet for your records.
THE ACTIVITIES DEPARTMENT DOES NOT ACCEPT FAXES FROM THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE OF YOUR MSHSAA PHYSICAL PACKET. YOU MUST BRING YOUR MSHSAA PHYSICAL PACKET, IN PERSON, TO THE ACTIVITIES OFFICE. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR MSHSAA PHYSICAL PACKET WITH ANY OTHER OFFICE.
Per new MSHSAA guidelines,  All physicals are now valid for a period of two years (730 days) from the date of issue unless otherwise noted by the doctor. For example, if the date of the physical is 3/15/2023, the physical will expire on 3/15/2025. The MSHSAA physical packet must be completely filled out and signed by a doctor. If any information or signatures are missing, the packet will be returned to be completed. Please check your MSHSAA physical packet before  uploading it to make sure it is complete. Incomplete paperwork will delay the ability to receive final clearance before the cut off date.
All forms must be completed here online & your MSHSAA Physical Packet uploaded (or brought to the Activities Office). This must be completed PRIOR TO THE SPECIFIED FINAL CLEARANCE CUT OFF DATE FOR THAT SEASON.

  3. COMPLETE IMPACT TESTING
A student must be ImPact Tested every two years (Freshmen, Juniors or students new to Howell or new to athletics). Impact Testing dates will be communicated on www.howellvikings.com, on the @FHVikings X account and in the Viking Insider. Impact testing is required for cheer, football, boys soccer, girls volleyball, softball, colorwinter guard, boys dive, boys wrestling, girls wrestling, boys basketball, girls basketball, girls dive, boys volleyball, lacrosse, baseball, girls soccer and track student athletes that are pole vaulting or high jumping.

  4. PAY ANY OUTSTANDING FINES PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICES/TRYOUTS

  5. EARN 3 CREDITS (PASS 6 CLASSES) THE PREVIOUS SEMESTER WITH A 1.5 GPA OR HIGHER
In order to be eligible students must earn 3 credits by passing 6 classes the previous semester and have a GPA of 1.5 or higher in that semester.

  6. OBTAIN FINAL CLEARANCE VIA ATHLETIC REGISTRATION WEBSITE
An email will be sent to the parent of the student regarding final clearance once the information has been verified. Due to the high volume of eligibility submissions, it may take up to 7 days following submission of eligibility for an email response.  If you do not have a response after 7 days, you should contact the Activities Office for an update. If you are wanting to verify your students eligibility, please logon on to their eligibility registration and check the final clearance box.
